Organizations and older workers: the impact of images on managers' decisions

The project aims to answer the following question: How do stereotypes about older workers affect managers’ decisions regarding older workers? In the first part, respondents (managers holding a leadership position) are presented with questions on stereotypes regarding workers and background information. In the following month respondents participate in a vignette study in which decisions are made regarding retirement, promotion, hiring, and training of older workers.

This is the first part of the study "Organizations and older workers: the impact of images on managers' decisions". In this part, a questionnaire was fielded in the LISS panel among managers holding a leadership position. The questionnaire mainly concerned stereotypes regarding older workers.

This is the second part of the study "Organizations and older workers: the impact of images on managers' decisions". In this part, the panel members that participated in the first part were presented a second questionnaire containing vignettes and requiring them to make decisions on situations involving older workers.
